My very first Half was the Scotia bank race  two years ago. This was my first race in over 30 years, I was so excited and nervous about the distance but once the horn went off I felt great and ran and ran .The race was going so well there were
so many people there cheering you on and the atmosphere was brilliant.I passed some new friends that I had made in the RR and some others passed me but life was good.I was near the end and shocked that I was running 1 hour 45mins and had 500 meteres to go when a woman collapsed and runners I swear were tripping over her.For a split second I thought do I keep running but no I stopped......yes I did to see if she was fine and she was having an asthma attack and had no strength to reach her puffer so I took it out of her pouch and made her breath into it and screamed for help.Within minutes help came and carried her off ,she thanked me and I continued to run to the end.I am glad I stopped and in the end there will always be another race.

My favourite memeory of Scotia is last year when Graham and I handed out the medals to the marathon and half marathon runners. My face physically hurt from smiling, and congratulating the runners. I saw so many people in tears , not from the pain, but from the emotion of finishing the race. I had the honour of putting the medal around the neck of so many of my friends at the their greatest moments. Seeing Anne when she qualified for Boston, seeing my brother complete his first half (faster than my best-the rat,but he is 11 years younger than me),Ben and Gwen's competition finally over (Ben won), Seeing Sylvia Ruegger complete the run, Ed Whitlock, Mayor Miller, and list goes on and on. Although I wish I was running, it was so satisfying to volunteer at this race, the atmosphere was electric. This year I would like to participate again as a runner, and THANK A VOLUNTEER!
