Wow, what a great weekend for the Beaches Runners Club
We had a great turnout at both events with 10 ladies entered in both events. I am quite proud of all the ladies who took on the challenge to run both races. A big thanks to Midsummer Night’s Run and Island Girl Race Directors for stepping up and getting us some swag and discounts for all entrants.
Our top finishers in the events were Melanie Locke in the 10k with a time of just over 52 minutes, Julie Petten was tops in the 15k event with 1:33 minutes and Boston Anne ran a time of 2hr and 57min for the 30k, which is a fab time after a morning 10k in 53 minutes.
Also, my darling daughter Sarah ran the Island Girl 10k as part of her track and cross country training and wowed us with a time of 42:40, good for 5
th overall and 2
nd in the 19 and under age group. She just snuck in under my 10 PB so I will have to get to work on that!
Way to go ladies! And well done to all of our other ladies who ran just the Midsummer’s event and all the gents who ran the Midsummer’s race. It was a great turnout and the Beaches Runners Club was well represented across the city this weekend. By the way, did anyone attend Saturday morning’s group run? I would be interested to know how that morning was.
Contest Results
Here are the top finishers in the Guess the times challenge. Wouldn’t you know it, the Mrs and I finished 1
st and 2
nd. We either cheated (HA, no!) or we know our friends well. (Yes!) – So she wins the main prize, 75% of the jack pot which is $18 and Sam R, wins closest to individual results getting Heather Nation’s combined time right on (good guess Sam!) Sam’s take is $6.
Next time…more entrants and BIG MONEY!
On a side note, every entrant in the Guessing Challenge who also ran the races got their own race time very close. This is a good sign of assessing your current fitness level. Well done.
