Just wanted to let everyone know that I am having no trouble with heat and humidity where I continue my training for the NYC marathon. Last evening in cool 4C temperatures (I could see my breath), I completed 4 hills in my hill training. The hill I run on is a cross between the finger hills and Fallingbrook side hills. BUT.......when you get to the top, the view is spectacular.....a panoramic vista of Frobisher Bay, mountains, snow, and ocean. The air is so fresh and fortunately last night the wind was at my back almost pushing me up the hill (not to say it was easy!)
Tomorrow will be my long run where I will run around the town, out to the airport and wherever I can to get in about 18k. I can honestly say that my training right now must be easier than yours in the heat and humidity of Toronto.
I return in 1 week and hope to see you at the LIghthouse run on August 9th. Just heading down to the new Tim Horton's with a friend for coffee. (no Starbucks here-I am in serious need of a latte).
Reporting from Iqaluit, Nunavut (where it is currently raining and 8C)
Signing off
Heather Vardy
